Use your experiences as a guide for kindness - Shoes

Now that you know a bit more about this journey, I want to share with you how those moments shaped who I am today.

When I was just five years old, a complete stranger took my hand and led me to a local mall. At that age, I didn’t understand what was happening. I placed my trust in this person, someone who wanted nothing in return but to show me kindness. That experience planted the seed for how I wanted to live my life—guided by love, generosity, and trust.

This stranger gave me more than just a shopping trip; she gave me a glimpse of what the world could be when we offer kindness without expectation. It wasn’t about the material gifts—though I still remember those red shoes like they were yesterday—it was about the act of giving. Her kindness became a lesson for me to trust others with an open heart and to pay it forward, no matter how small the gesture. My intentions have always been simple: to live with kindness, and to share it wherever I can.

When she asked me what I wanted, I never thought about it before. I had everything I thought I needed. But with the honesty of a child, I spoke from my heart:

"I want the same shoes as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz."

Just like that, she bought me my first pair of red shoes. But she didn’t stop there—she went even further, picking out a pair of runners and sandals as well. That day ended with my return home, excited to show my mother. Of course, she was angry at first, worried about my safety, but we both learned something important that day: kindness can come from unexpected places.

I’ve never forgotten that day, and it’s shaped how I approach the world. Making it my mission to pass on kindness whenever I can—whether it’s offering a smile, a hug, or making sure someone gets the food they need. These acts don’t always require money; sometimes, a few kind words or a moment of understanding can change someone’s day.

But there’s something else I’ve learned: kindness starts with ourselves. Sometimes it’s as simple as taking a walk, resting, or reflecting with gratitude. We need to care for our own well-being, so we can keep sharing love with others.

Every challenge in life, every difficult moment, has been an opportunity for growth. I’ve learned to turn those moments into something positive. I haven’t finished growing yet, and I never will. Just like you, I am still becoming. And so is everyone around us.

Let’s continue this journey together, with kindness as our guide.
