The Four-Way Stop

The other day while driving, I came to a four-way stop. Like always, I slowed down, looked carefully in every direction, and waited my turn. Not just for myself, but for everyone else too. Safety is a shared responsibility, even in the smallest moments. As I passed through the intersection, I gave the usual little wave of thanks to the other drivers. It made me laugh a bit. In a funny way, it almost feels like you're standing on a stage thanking a crowd after receiving an award. Maybe, in some small way, it is an award. A moment of patience. A moment of kindness.
